Matt is an internationally trained lawyer who works for individuals, big & small companies, and law firms.
Called to the Ontario and Alberta Law Societies, today Matt practices primarily out of his Calgary, Alberta offices. His specific practice areas include a virtual corporate or general counsel service offering, whereby small companies can retain Raketti Law and access corporate and compliance counsel services on-demand, instead of engaging permanent in-house counsel or an expensive full-service law firm. He also engages clients on matters relating to wills and estates, immigration and visa applications and appeals, and commercial transactions.
Matthew operates in Alberta under his own law firm, Raketti Law, and also acts as “of counsel” for Cobalt Lawyers for Alberta-based work. He aims to leverage existing and emergent technologies to automate many of the routine aspects of his legal practice, thereby enabling him to provide a more client-focused experienced at a highly competitive price point.
Prior to launching Raketti Law, Matt graduated from the Scalia Law School just outside of Washington D.C., worked for a small business law firm in Calgary, Alberta, and undertook Ryerson University’s innovative Law Practice Program in Toronto. While at Ryerson, Matt won the 2015 LPP Access to Justice Innovation Challenge Pitch and gained extensive in-house counsel experience.
Outside of his core practice, Matt is a passionate advocate for the rule of law and continually seeks pro-bono opportunities to advance and protect the same across Canadian society and around the world.
